Blog Entry"To Infinity and Beyond!" SeriesJan 21, '07 8:00 AM
for everyone
When I See Orion Take Out His Bow

When I see Orion take out his bow
and aim
at countless
nameless prey
the Universe in me greets
meets
becomes one again
with the Infinite.

The Night Sky and Me

The night sky...and me

Infinity...infinitely small

me.

Precious Few

There are precious,
precious few
to rival the soothing balm
of a vast open Sky
for an outcast
desolate

heart.

Cerulean Sea

When I look around me and see ---
really see ---
the cerulean sea above me,
joy washes over me
engulfs me
completes me.
I long to embrace it ---
embrace it! ---
but my arms don't have the reach.
And I finally see
that one moment
that wave of ecstasy
was a moment made
for Eternity.

Morning Sky Over Katipunan Avenue

Small hand of my watch's chasing 7
Carpool dad's frowning while traffic-maneuvering
Junior's counting the cars and the minutes
Lady yuppie's rehearsing words for her reporting

Me, staring
from inside the jeepney staring
at the bright blue sky over Katipunan

Delighting at,
reveling in,
relishing
the same blue sky above
Mt. Pulag
Sagada
Calatagan
which finds me
writing
mailing
to all my friends
mental postcards saying:
"Wish you were here."

I was thinking, "Okay, this'll be the last friend's post I'll read then I'll go post." I was thinking of posting poems and lo and behold! Here are some of yours! Katuwa naman! :)

You're really into nature, ha? I haven't gone to a lot of places to write about nature. My poems are mostly about feelings. What kinds of stuff do you like to write baout aside from nature?

hi Vien --- you are SO welcome!!! you are an artist and truly an artist's stalwart champion! ;) i just really wanted to write these. it was time, you know --- the words were gestating inside me for so long. so these are my babies, hehe...quintuplets no less!!! ;P

i am truly grateful you took the time to read these poems...thank you from the bottom of my hypothalamus. ;) a lot of my friends have viewed my "To Infinity and Beyond!" page, but sadly, nada comment, not even a smiley! :( which leaves me scratching my head. i have always detested poetry that seems to have been written in a foreign language or else a Da Vincian code I just cannot decipher, so i wrote these poems with the simplest words i knew and only the clearest thoughts i could put to paper...but still no waves...hmmmmm...i know!!! i will write poems about rush-hour commuting in the metro, washing the dishes after a drrrrrraining day at work and showering with Antarctica-cold water in the morning to strike a chord in other people...hehe! ;)

you are truly an ANGEL for just reading another person's thoughts and appreciating them...now we continue the work of living and creating... ;)

haha...I KNOW! ;) synchronicity or being "in synch" with another person is just really uncanny sometimes, right?! ;)

dear, if your words have been churning in your gut for quite some time now, been digested slowly and are ready to flow out into your whole system as nutrients, GO FOR IT! ;) write your poems na...and be patient. Ü i was stuck at my third poem "cerulean sea" because i just really needed TIME to go back to that original moment when i was sooooo struck with wonder at the 360-degree mountain-mist-and-sky beauty of mt. pulag. the experience and the words for it germinated inside me for another day (actually, almost an entire MONTH since we climbed pulag late december) before i could write the entire poem and (lo and behold!) two other poems just had to be given birth to! it's just so...serendipitous, unexpected. Ü i really didn't have any "control" where the writing of these poems would take me (and in writing a certain loss of control is always good...it can take you places you would've never imagined, right? Ü). i'm happy i just took the chance and ran with it.

i would have to say, in a nutshell, i write about experiences that are true and authentic to me. i weave in the details I see, feel and have meditated on because it's really just that..."me" talking about riding a jeepney in katipunan early in the morning, "me" taking comfort from the vastness of a lonely stretch of beach at twilight or "me" enjoying watching the stars at night right in my village. Ü it can be about anything, really, but time and again the themes crop up (i can't help it, they're the most "makulit" and persistent muses i have!)...nature, the arts, culture, writing, travel, friendship, our universal search for meaning...or reading a really great blog entry from a friend or even a complete stranger! ;)

whatever it is you're going to write about in your poems (or other lit genres), good luck, lildove! ;) i'll be rooting for you and waiting to see "you" in your poems. Ü

I wasn't able to post them after all yesterday. We were in a hurry to leave. Dang. But I'll post something later, links to some past posts that I dunno if you'll like, but what the heck. ;p

You can comment on them. that'll be very much welcome! Constructive criticisms are always welcome :) I actually have a Friendster blog just for literary purposes but I've been lazy in updating it. I will soon.
